Review: Joe’s Exotic by nuEra
Strain names can often function as a time capsule, capturing the cultural trends and influences of the era in which they were created. This is especially true for Joe’s Exotic, a new addition to nuEra’s flower line, which pays homage to the 2020s cultural phenomenon, Tiger King. I picked up a batch of Joe’s Exotic from nuEra Champaign to sample.
Joe’s Exotic is a hybrid cross of Morty’s Moms Phone and White Widow and Skunk #1. This batch of flower tested at 0.12% CBDa, 1.24% CBGa, 30.38% THCa, and 31.74% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 1.34% of the total weight with limonene, β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene, and α-humulene being the heaviest.

The majority of the eighth came from a single cola that was roughly the size of a large thumb, with a couple of smaller nugs, no bigger than popcorn, filling the remaining space. These buds were covered in a thick layer of trichomes that glistened, accentuating the contours of each nug. Upon closer inspection, hues of deep royal purple peeked through the crystalline coating, while delicate wisps of fiery orange hairs added a subtle touch of contrast.
At first, the aroma was subtle and elusive, requiring some exploration to detect its full range of notes. Eventually, I was able to pick up hints of dark chocolate and sweet dough, along with a delicate scent of roses and freshly cut grass. The flavor was dominated by the earthy taste of grass, complemented by the woody notes of sandalwood and a slightly roasted cedar aftertaste.
As I took my time with the bowl, I began to feel a gradual heaviness in my eyelids, followed by a mild body relaxation that eased away some of my surface-level aches and pains. My energy levels remained unchanged, and overall, Joe’s Exotic provided a mellow and subdued high that was a good fit for unwinding without feeling too overwhelmed.
