Review: NF-1 by Lobo
I’m a big fan of strains with classic genetics, even more so when both parents are well-known cuts. The latest Lobo release, NF-1, combines Northern Lights and Chemdawg, two powerhouse cultivars with long histories. I recently stopped at Parkway Dispensary in Tilton and picked up an eighth to review.
NF-1 is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Northern Lights and Chemdawg. This batch of flower tested at 0.25% THC, 30.92% THCa, and 32.38% total cannabinoids.
A handful of various-sized flower, from sub-popcorn up to small-pointed colas carried a uniform turf-green-surface tone. A dotting of solidly milky trichome heads was supported by the bases of trimmed sugar leaves and a network of thick fire orange hairs wrapping around each bud. The flowers were dry at the surface but came back from a squeeze with a slow moving, spongy texture.
Notes of hot mustard, burnt lemon, and fresh-cut pine created a tangy top end over a warmer and spicier body of black pepper, cinnamon, and cedar with a distinct baking bread aroma at the finish. The tangy top notes were even bolder on the palate with the same hot mustard, lemon, and pickle flavors outcompeting any of the warm spicy notes from the aroma. The tanginess coated the tongue, leaving a strong lingering flavor on the palate long after the bowl was finished.
A couchlocking body buzz caught me as the first bowl was finished, hitting me in the chest with a heavy pressure and sapping my energy. My train of thought remained calm and collected even as the physical heaviness killed my motivation. NF-1 reliably kicked up my appetite after the peak of the physical pressure passed. The mental calm seemed to stick with me for several hours. The heavy physical buzz worked well for muscle relaxation but limited NF-1 to strictly nighttime use.
