While solventless rosin has taken all the spotlight of the last year, some Illinois extractors have focused on dialing in their solvent extraction processes. Bedford Grow’s labs have tightened up their tech and are consistently pulling terpene heavy live resins with great effects.

Star Run Mixed Live Resin, picked up at Springfield of Maribis, is a blend built from these new batches that I was delighted to sample. Star Run is a blended, or mixed live resin from Bedford Grow that leans indica. This batch tested at 84.45% THCA, 2.74% Delta-9 THC, and 88.39% total cannabinoids. The primary terpenes were b-myrcene, b-caryophyllene, and limonene.

This gram came as a bright clump of chunky diamonds swimming in a pool of golden sauce. The translucency here almost made the concentrate glow under lights. As I noted in a previous review, most of the live resins coming from the Bedford Grow lab share this “diamonds and sauce” like consistency. I love the tech but some patients may find it a bit cumbersome depending on their consumption method.

The aroma in the jar was complex with notes of tangy diesel, lemon, lime, and cherry appearing over an undertone blending fresh pine and spring flowers. This is another characteristic I’ve come to notice from Bedford’s latest releases, a wide ranging (and sometimes difficult to pin down) aroma profile.

When vaporized at low temps, the diesel, lemon, and pine make appearances but I was surprised to find a funky cheesy note, similar to blue cheese on the top. The effects came on strong and fast. My body was heavy, and I leaned into the couch at first. I noticed the strong anti-inflammatory effects lighten the load on my joints.

While the body load was stereotypical for an indica, the mind effects went the other way. Once I adjusted to the body hit, I found myself surprisingly energetic. The noticeable pain relief only motivated me further and I eventually found Star Run perfect for working around the house or even as a pre-workout.

The energizing head change made this much more of a hybrid experience than what I was expecting. This blended resin is just more proof that Bedford Grows lab has dialed in their tech and they continue to push out consistent, quality concentrates.
