Review: White Grapefruit Cookies by Seed & Strain
In the pre-legalization days, the High Times Cannabis Cup was a way for breeders to highlight their newest, most exciting strains. While the Cup has changed dramatically from those days, a tiny bit of that spirit lives on as some cultivators submit their new “headline cultivars” for consideration. White Grapefruit Cookies from Seed & Strain, as part of the Sativa Flower Kit, is one of those cultivars.
White Grapefruit Cookies is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Lemonberry and Tropicanna Cookies. This batch of flower tested at 0.88% CBGa, 0.52% THC, 38.6% THCa, and 40.01% total cannabinoids. The indicated terpenes were β-myrcene, β-caryophyllene, and eucalyptol.
Two medium-sized buds, closely trimmed into pointed pine-tree-cone shapes, carried a pale olive-green tone, accented by small turf-green sugar-leaf remnants, splotches of bright purple, and a matrix of fire-orange hairs. Squeezing the buds between my fingers left a hashy greasiness and a spongy bounceback.
The aroma was a tangy, fruit-forward melange of lemon, grapefruit, hops, burnt orange terpinolene, and sweet grape. The complex fruit combination from the aroma carried over into the flavor, led by lemon and terpinolene and supported by an undertone of sweet cream that wasn’t present in the aroma. The flavor was bright and tangy but carried enough weight to stick to my palate for a long time post bowl.
Inducing a strong headband pressure and an appreciable uptick in mood before the bowl was finished, White Grapefruit Cookies was fast acting. My headspace opened up and left me talkative and energized but lacking any focus. This energy boost lasted for a short time, peaking at the half-hour mark before dissipating.
The physical aspect was heavier, moving from the headband at my crown into a full body pressure that gave the entire experience a more hybrid feel than anticipated. Overall, this was a potent and flavorful contender, and I look forward to more of this strain from Seed & Strain. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
