Sonny G is bred in-house as part of he Verano’s “G Line.” I’m a huge fan of G6 (G6 review here), so when I learned Sonny G was a cross between G6 and Tangie (X unknown male), I knew I wanted to try it just for the taste alone. When I noticed NuMed’s menu in Urbana listed a new batch of Sonny G clocking in a whopping 33.034% THC, I had to pick it up for a Thirty % Plus THC review. I wasn’t disappointed one bit.

First, let’s start with the taste. How can we not? From the lineage, I expected a pungent flavor, but even I wasn’t ready for the power this bud packs. The flavor is a strong tart tangerine with notes of diesel and berry on the front end. On the back, a diesel and pine starts the exhale, but the tangerine taste sticks. Probably the most powerful tangerine flavor I’ve ever tasted. Enough that it tickles the back of my throat. Hints of the orangey flavor stick with well after smoking, and hours later, I got couple of those reminder tastes left on the palate.

The smell is similar to the taste, leading with the tangy orange followed by a thick diesel.

The chunky misshapen buds remind me of G6 buds but are a little denser and darker green. These buds are filled with orange hairs and break apart easily. This is not a strain you can smoke with discretion. Everyone in the room, apartment, house, and maybe building is going to smell this after smoking. Maybe even after opening the canister.

The high is way more energetic and focused than I expected for a sativa leaning hybrid. I could interchange this review and the G6 review in the Thirty % Plus THC series and the Work Sativa series. The high is heady, euphoria, and happy. I am all smiles. After a couple doses, I also enjoy the added body buzz and relaxation. The more I smoke the more the body buzz settles in.

Whenever I want a strong flavorsome strain to satisfy my taste buds, I am going to grab some more Sonny G. The combined strength and taste set it apart from other quality strains.
