Illinois medical cannabis sales still stagnant
Today, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported March 2022 medical cannabis sales totals.
Despite a small uptick in March sales, Illinois’ monthly medical cannabis did not share as big of a bounce in total sales as did March recreational sales. Retail sales of medical cannabis for March totaled $31,965,526.26, including $14,595,945.92 in dry flower sales and $17,369,580.34 in concentrates/infused-products.
Licensed medical cannabis dispensaries served 67,351 unique patients, who purchased 1,165,049 grams of dry cannabis.
These medical cannabis totals outperformed the first two months of 2022 as part of the normal cannabis sales cycle (February: $28,187,064.97/January: $29,686,123.47), but Illinois’ monthly medical sales have fluctuated between $28-35 million for the last two years.
Sales totals for each of the first three months of 2022 were lower than the first three months of 2021.
Illinois 2021 sales of medical cannabis totaled $397,249,781.70. Add that to the 2021 recreational cannabis salesof $1,379,088,278.61 for a total of $1,776,338,060.31 in combined medical and cannabis sales.
