Review: Gelonade by 93 Boyz
93 Boyz has tapped into big name strains such as Jet Fuel and Gary Payton for its genetic library, so it’s no surprise to see the label putting out a cut of Gelonade. Gelonade has already made a name for itself, and I was interested in seeing how 93 Boyz had grown the cultivar. I stopped into Trinity Compassionate Care and picked up an eighth to sample.
Gelonade is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Lemon Tree and Gelato #41. This batch of flower tested at 0.76% Delta 9 THC, 25.11% THCa, and 26.19% total cannabinoids. The indicated terpenes were β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene, α-pinene, and α-humulene.
A handful of small popcorn flowers carried an olive-green undertone shrouded beneath purple sugar leaf remnants, clumps of loose orange hairs, and a milky and dense trichome frost that lightened the entire color profile. The flower was dense but not overly so, bouncing back quickly when pinched and grinding up with a fluffy texture.
The top end of the aromatic profile provided sweet notes of artificial grape and lime peel, followed by spicy tones of fresh cut jalapeño, black pepper, and a clean briny finishing note. The flower was well dried and smoked with a smooth mouthfeel and throat hit even with large bong rips. The flavor carried light indications of the sweet candy grape and lime at the top, but these were quickly knocked out by heavier tones of pepper and cedar making for a very savory flavor profile.
Gelonade provided an uplifting high that set in fully by the fifteen-minute mark. The physical profile was noticeable before the mental aspect with a tingling euphoric sensation building in my chest before spreading outward to the rest of my body. Mentally, a wide and open awareness slowly built, and my focus sharpened, allowing for a real clarity of mind. This combination of euphoric physical sensations accompanied by a wide awareness and sharp focus worked well as a Work Sativa.
