Review: Moonbow by Island
The last 3-out-of-4 strains we’ve reviewed (Washington Apple, Grease Monkey, and Garlic Z) from Island Cannabis landed in our Thirty % Plus THC Reviews series, so I decided to add another one, Moonbow.
Picked up from Emerald Dispensary and Lounge, Moonbow is an evenly balanced hybrid cross of Zkittlez and Do-Si-Dos, originally bred by Archive Seed Bank. This batch tested at 0.32% THC, 29.02% THCa, and 30.40% total cannabinoids. Primary terpenes included limonene, linalool, and b-caryophyllene.

This eighth came as one humongous cola and several other thumb-sized buds. The pointy spade-shaped buds were olive and dark green and dense. The aroma hit with earthy, floral, cut grass, kush, hops, piss, mixed nuts, and diesel with slight notes of berry. The flavor delivered a completely different experience from the aroma. The front end of the inhale hit with earth, berry fruits, gas, pepper, and hops that mixed with a candy citrus. The exhale added even more candy sweetness, mixed fruit, and berries, especially on the back end where the flavor often turned into a powdered sweet-and-sour candy that remained on the palate.
The fast-acting effects started with head high that calmed my thoughts and provided a headband pressure, especially in the temples and forehead. Though calming, the head high also offered a mentally lifting aspect for the first half of the buzz. The body buzz slowly built as an allover easing of muscle aches and pains that layered on a heavier blanket with each dose. The heavier the blanket feeling become the more sedative the head and body buzz became. By the end of the buzz, a physical and mental sedation crept in, along with a boosted appetite. Moonbow landed more toward indica effects than a split hybrid and worked well when I wanted to relax and decompress for most of the buzz before letting the late sedative effects put me to sleep.
