Review: Rainbow Sour by Bedford Grow
For the last couple months, we have been reviewing Bedford Grow flower from the crosses created with the in-house strain 3rd Coast Panama Chunk and Amnesia Sour Diesel. So far, the new strains Candy Coast, Mecha Chem Diesel, Galloping Ghost OG, Prism, Lake Effect, and Chicago Dawg have been consistent with Bedford Grows more traditional heavy “chem” and ‘kush” lines, such as Chem de la Chem, Orange Whip, I-95, Pootie Tang, Orange Afghani, Fraction Run, The Mothership, Oz Kush BX2, and more. The one outlier from the 3rd Coast Panama Chunk and Amnesia Sour Diesel crosses, though, was Rainbow Sour.
Rainbow Sour is a hybrid cross of Dubble Rainbow (Dubble Grape and Oz Kush BX2) and (3rd Coast Panama Chunk and Amnesia Sour Diesel). Picked up from Maribis Springfield, this eighth of Rainbow Sour tested at 22.67% THCa, 0.35% Δ9-THC, 0.36% CBGa, and 23.38% total cannabinoids. Primary terpenes included limonene, β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene, β-pinene, α-pinene, and α-terpineol.

The five colorful thumb-sized buds were a mix of purple, light green, and dark green with rust-orange pistils and dirty-blond trichomes. The aroma from the jar gave the first hint that this cross of 3rd Coast Panama Chunk and Amnesia Sour Diesel would be different. Instead of that sour citrus and lime aroma with a high percentage of terpinolene, Rainbow Sour delivered strong pine, kush, hops, cinnamon, basil, mint, and orange citrus aromas.
The flavor followed suit with a strong kushy pine, sour diesel, citrus, mint, and sweet fruit on the inhale. The exhale added more diesel and notes of earthy pine, sour lime, nutty spice, and a creamy kush.
The effects also were different than the other 3rd Coast Panama Chunk and Amnesia Sour Diesel crosses, landing more in the middle with an overall relaxing body and content mindset. Similarly to the other cross, though, the head high quickly built a stoned heaviness in the forehead, temples, and eye sockets.

The heavy head led to a more “at ease” thought process that lowered stress and anxiety levels and allowed me to relax after work and at night. My thoughts were not locked or absent but rather functioning to unwind the mind. I functioned enough mentally to finish work late at night and a few other chores, and I also was able to just sit and relax in quiet.
The body buzz onset had a delay but went from zero to one hundred very quickly. The muscle relaxation started in the arms and legs and worked inward. The buzz was like steadily adding weight to the body until blanketed. Late in the buzz, the relief came in waves of relaxation throughout the body.
Along with the appetite booster, the head high and body buzz was one large dose of “chill” for whatever activities I participated in, including listening to music, binging television, taking dogs for a walk, and pretty much any relaxing endeavor. Toward the end of the high, the effects leaned toward sedation and sleep. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
