Review: Lake Effect by Bedford Grow
For the last series of Bedford Grow products, I have been reviewing in-house strains crossed with 3rd Coast Panama Chunk and Amnesia Sour Diesel. In the last of the series, I reviewed Lake Effect, a phrase heard several times on weather and news channels last month because a Lake Effect dumped several feet of snow across the Midwest. The definition of Lake Effect is “snow falling on the lee side of a lake, generated by cold dry air passing over warmer water, especially in the Great Lakes region.”
The strain Lake Effect is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Blackout and (3rd Coast Panama Chunk x Amnesia Sour Diesel). Picked up from Maribis Springfield, this eighth tested at 24.62 % THCa, 1.03% Δ9-THC, 0.86% CBGa, and 26.51% total cannabinoids. Primary terpenes included terpinolene, limonene, α-pinene, β-myrcene, β-pinene, and ocimene.

This eighth came as five equal-sized trichome-laced buds. The dense buds were light green with a little darker green and purple mixed in with the bright orange pistils. The aroma first hit with lemon-lime, sweet turpentine, mint, and sour pine, with back notes of orange citrus and earthy hops.
The flavor delivered a different profile than expected. The front end of the inhale struck first with the citrus lemon-lime but quickly shifted to gas pine, sour diesel, and sweet citrus. The exhale continued with the diesel, pine, and citrus but also added sweet and sour apples and a kushy-haze funk on the back end with hints of pepper.
The head high onset was very quick, and each toke seemed to hit with a punch of pressure in the upper head before leveling off. The head high was creative and cerebral but with a relaxed euphoria that kept me awake, clearheaded, and content. Once the high was on the downside, it was easy to recharge right back to original peak buzz with another dose.
The body buzz crept in slower starting with tingles throughout the body and built into heavier muscle relation and joint relief. The body buzz became heaviest in the arms, legs, and neck. Though relaxing with a “chill” vibe, Lake Effect kept me mentally active and productive during the day and afternoons and fit well in our Work Sativa series.
Other (3rd Coast Panama Chunk x Amnesia Sour Diesel) crosses from Bedford Grow include Wild Berry Breath, Lake Effect, Rainbow Sour, Candy Coast, Mecha Chem Diesel, Galloping Ghost OG, Prism, and Chicago Dawg.
