Review: Sirius B by Bedford Grow
As mentioned in my Wild Berry Breath review, Bedford Grow has been building a collection of versatile cultivars based on (3rd Coast Panama Chunk and Amnesia Haze). Comparing strains with a shared parent isn’t just an easy way to find other cultivars I enjoy, it’s a path to building cannabis assessment skills. When Sirius B, a new addition to the aforementioned collection and a cross of another personal favorite Ain’t One, appeared on the menu at Maribis of Springfield, I dove in for some “skill building.”
Sirius B is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Ain’t One and (3rd Coast Panama Chunk and Amnesia Haze). This batch of flower tested at 24.61% THCa, 1.14% Delta-9-THC, 1.18% CBGa, and 26.93% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 3.97% of the total weight with terpinolene, α-pinene, limonene, and β-myrcene being the heaviest.
There was one large picturesque pointed cola tip and a few dense popcorn flowers in this jar. The creamy amber colored trichome covering gave a shimmer to the forest green flowers and highlighted the heavy covering of burnt orange hairs. The trim and dry were well executed, no sugar leaves left and a springy bounce-back when squeezed.
The slightly citrusy, slightly chemical telltale tang of terpinolene ruled the top end of the aroma profile. Lime, sweet pine, and a hint of salty ocean worked together to create the scent of a freshly made gin and tonic complete with lime. The pine and terpinolene carry through the smoke the heaviest creating a note of citronella on the exhale.
Sirius B took a while to fully set in, lifting my mood and energy levels after about 10 minutes. My mindscape was noticeably fractured, and while I wanted to use the energy to get working, focus was lacking, and my time was spent bouncing around between tasks and goofing off. Sirius B provided a strong body buzz, eventually becoming a heavy warm blanket that weighed down the overall experience towards something much more “hybrid” than “sativa.” Overall, the heavy terpene numbers provided a complex tasting experience and while the effect profile wasn’t a heat seeking missile of productivity, it was a lot of fun.
